A new brand for an old company

Since 1908, we have held true to the vision that led to our founding. Over a century ago, a handful of forward-thinkers guaranteed dozens of properties and livestock against fire with their own money – a time when insurance was both hard to get and almost impossible to afford for the average farmer. The co-operative concept of what was then called Saskatchewan Mutual Fire Insurance Company allowed it to grow into the future, where we now offer general insurance across Western Canada.

In 2022, Saskatchewan Mutual Insurance rebranded as Sandbox Mutual Insurance, launching with a fresh new brand, bright colors, and clean and simple look. The focus is clear – to provide a delightfully simple insurance experience for its members and customers.

About us

Here at Sandbox Mutual Insurance, policyholders are the guiding light– each one receives voting rights to elect our Board of Directors. With long-term objectives and strategic goals in mind, SMI relies on the pioneer spirit of our founders that carried us to where our Saskatoon office supports branches in Winnipeg, Regina and Calgary. Our team of nearly 100 employees delivers reliable, cordial and ethical service to all of our policyholders across Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
